Astrid Kayembe (she/her) is a writer from Los Angeles.
She is an award-winning news, arts and culture journalist and audience engagement editor. Her work focuses on hyperlocal coverage with an emphasis in arts, culture, entertainment and community engagement.
In 2021, Astrid graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in journalism with emphasis in arts, culture, entertainment and social change. Her bylines have appeared in Los Angeles Times, L.A. Times Image, Essence GU, USA Today, L.A. TACO, ABC7, The Memphis Commercial Appeal, Refinery29 and more. She is also the founder of Burnt Tortillas Magazine.When she's not reporting, Astrid can be found in the mosh pit at a hardcore show, shopping on Fairfax, and waiting in line for the best food in L.A.I'm open to writing assignments on music, L.A. culture and subcultures, food, pop culture, trends and Black culture.Below are some work samples!
